David Tennant will be making an appearance at the Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo.
After trying for over a decade to bring Tennant to the event, the “Tenth Doctor” will be making an appearance on Sept. 23.
Best known for starring in Doctor Who, Tennant is also known for his work in the shows Jessica Jones and Broadchurch. He’s also been cast as Scrooge McDuck in the upcoming DuckTales reboot.
“There are few people fans ask us about more than David Tennant,” said show founder and director Kandrix Foong.
“We’re all major fans of his work and thrilled he has time to visit us in Edmonton.”
Doctor Who is a science fiction program with a cult following. The Doctor, played by Tennant, is a time-travelling scientist from a far-off planet who is able to evolve his biology so that he appears as many different people throughout the series.
The show said this will mark the first time Tennant has made an appearance at a western Canada comic expo.
Tennant isn’t the only doctor who will be there. The show previously announced that Matt Smith, the “Eleventh Doctor” will also be appearing on Sept. 22.
“‘Whovians’ really couldn’t ask for a better year to check out the show!” Foong said.
Smith was most recently seen on screen as Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in the first two seasons of Netflix’s The Crown, an award-winning drama about the Royal Family.
Also appearing at this year’s show are Star Wars: Episode I actor Ray Park, Katie Cassidy from Arrow, Danielle Panabaker from The Flash and Karl Urban, known for his work on Star Trek, Lord of the Rings and Thor: Ragnarok.
Tickets for the festival are now available on the show’s website. The Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo runs Sept. 21-23.
