What’s happening Waterloo? Here’s your guide to the region’s events this weekend

If you can’t escape to a cottage or campground this weekend, there are many fun-filled activities throughout Waterloo region to keep you entertained.

The following is a list of some of the activities you can find throughout the region.

Folk music festival (Cambridge)

The 26th annual Mill Race Festival of Traditional Folk Music will take place at various venues in downtown Cambridge (Galt) on Friday (8 p.m. – 11 p.m.), Saturday (1 p.m. – 11 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m. – 10 p.m.)

The free event features music, dance, arts, crafts, and a selection of food and refreshments.

Strummerfest 2018 (Waterloo)

Strummerfest will see musicians performing at Waterloo Public Square Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The two-day concert is intended to honour Clash drummer Joe Strummer and raise awareness for suicide prevention.

Waterloo Central Railway

The Waterloo Central Railway is offering several interesting options over the weekend including the Great Train Robbery and the Civic Holiday Steam Train.

Tickets for train rides can be purchased here.

Waterloo Region Museum (Kitchener)

Kidsummer will take place at the Waterloo Region Museum on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event will include horse-drawn wagon rides, crokinole and horseshoes and a chance to try using stilts.

Free admission for up to two children ages five to 12 with each $11 adult admission.
