Okanagan police not sharing details about fatal shooting in Oliver

Police have yet to release any information regarding a shooting that took place in Oliver on Thursday morning. File / Global News

News of a fatal shooting in Oliver is being met with silence from police.

According to reports, a shooting took place northeast of the Okanagan Correctional Centre, with police attending the scene at 4:30 a.m.

Oliver RCMP said “no details are being released at this time.”

This is the second fatal shooting report in as many months in and around Oliver, a town with an estimated population under 5,000.

Oliver RCMP responded to a man who had been shot outside his residence on Wilson Mountain Road. Upon arrival, the victim was given immediate medical assistance and transported to hospital. However, the 58-year-old man died later.
