A smartphone app launching in the coming months will allow users in Saskatoon and Kelowna to order alcohol and cannabis and have it delivered directly to their door.
The Designated Delivery will connect customers with liquor stores and marijuana dispensaries, allowing them to place, track and receive orders without leaving home – similar to SkipTheDishes.
Operating under the corporation Ambrosa Technologies, Designated Delivery is designed for convenience and to cut down on impaired driving, according to CEO and founder Sam Bahm.

“Instead of having to get in their car and drive to the store, like they would now, they can just jump on the app,” Bahm said.
“We live in a digital age where people just go on their phone to purchase anything, so why would this be any different?”
Saskatchewan drivers will be required to have Serve It Right certification, a liquor permit in the vehicle and a criminal record check.
In an email to Global News, Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) spokesperson David Morris said cannabis can legally be delivered by retailers to customers at their homes.
“The delivery can be made by an employee or by a delivery company that requires proof of age as a condition of delivery,” Morris said.
Designated Delivery’s alcohol service is slated to begin in early September. Cannabis sales will come after legalization, which is scheduled for Oct. 17.
