It happened near the Patterson SkyTrain station around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night, according to the Burnaby RCMP.

Police said a 22-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening stab wounds.

Police say it’s early in the investigation, but described the stabbing as an isolated incident and said they believe there is no risk to the public.

Earlier this month, a 73-year-old man was assaulted in Central Park. Police said the attack left him with “life-altering” injuries.

Central Park is also the same park where police found the body of 13-year-old Marrisa Shen last July.

Despite reviewing 2,000 hours of video, conducting 600 interviews and following up on 200 tips, police have no prime suspect in her killing.

Burnaby RCMP Const. Charles Chen said despite the common location of the three incidents, the public should not be alarmed.

“Yes, Central Park is safe and the City of Burnaby is safe. Of course these things do happen, but they are very uncommon. They’re serious unfortunately, but they are incidents that are once in a blue moon,” Chen said.

“It’s something that’s extremely important for the management here as well as for the members. A lot of Burnaby constables are residents of Burnaby, and they themselves want to make sure that the city is safe.”

Investigators are now looking for two suspects.

The first is described as a First Nations man between 40- and 45-years-old, six-feet tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a red shirt and blue pants.
