One takes place in the Gimli area August 25-26, and another goes from Dauphin to Clear Lake September 8-9.

“It’s just really to help generate funds for groundbreaking research and provide programs and services for Manitobans living with MS,” said Darcey Hill with the Manitoba divison of MS Canada.

According to MS Canada, one out of 385 Canadians will be diagnosed with MS, which is one of the highest rates in the world.

A frequent rider will be taking part for a 12th year — Tobie Berthon said it all started with a job interview.

“I was interviewing for a job and the owner had a daughter with MS. He asked me if I would be willing to climb on a bike and ride to Gimili to raise funds,” Berthon said.

“It turned out to be one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done. I was hooked after the first year. Here we are, twelve years later.”

During his 12 years of participation, Berthon has raised $650,000 with his team and $50,000 on his own.
