It’s news that Tina Adams has been wanting to hear for three years — the driver who hit her has pleaded guilty.

“When I heard that he pleaded guilty — I was like wow, finally, something at least is getting done and I’m happy for that,” said Adams.

On June 12, 2015, she was struck by a car while out jogging with a friend.

The accident put her in critical condition and she ended up in a wheelchair.

The driver, Jordan Taylor, initially pleaded not guilty to all 10 charges he was facing, but last month, that changed.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm — all other charges were stayed.

“He should have pleaded guilty in the beginning and this would have been over with,” said Adams.

Since the crash, the 23-year-old has undergone 19 surgeries — including a hip replacement and a reconstructed pelvis.

Her most recent surgery, last month, has put her back on crutches.

She says her life will never be the same.

“I still have constant hospital appointments, I’m still going to physio — and it’s dragging on and on,” she said.

Before the accident, Adams was studying to become a police officer.

Though those dreams are now dashed — she is making sure to have an impact on future officers.

“For the police tech students at John Abbott, I go in their classrooms and speak to the students — it’s an impaired driving class, so I speak to that class and present myself,” said Adams.

Adams now has a new goal — she hopes to one day become a gym teacher.
