As they continue to investigate the incident, Burnaby RCMP has released a video showing a suspect moments before a hit and run incident that resulted in an officer-on-foot being injured.
Police said the man failed to halt when the officer tried to stop the vehicle after seeing the man using an electronic device behind the wheel, instead hitting the officer as he continued to drive south on Willingdon.
It happened last Wednesday morning, around 10 a.m. at Willingdon Avenue and Parker Street.

The officer was taken to hospital with a broken arm.
The video released Thursday shows the male suspect walking from a vehicle into a Burnaby gas station. He makes his way over to a fridge in the store before heading to the counter to pay.

Police said the suspect vehicle is a grey Dodge Nitro SUV with B.C. license plate number PK9 94H.
The suspect is described as a south Asian man, five feet, nine inches tall, with a heavy build, shaved head, tattoo on his left arm and wearing a white t-shirt with grey sweatpants.
“The officer is expected to return to duty in the coming months,” Burnaby RCMP said in a news release.
Witness Rocky Phibbs told Global News he rushed to the officer’s side to help him while his partner called 9-1-1.
“The police officer involved has asked that we extend sincere thanks to members of the public who assisted after the incident took place. By stopping traffic and protecting our injured officer, they prevented the potential for further injury occurring.”
