Woman seen ‘forcibly dragged’ into vehicle in Cole Harbour found safe: RCMP

Halifax District RCMP have confirmed the woman a witness says was dragged forcibly into a vehicle in Cole Harbour on Tuesday night is indeed safe.

RCMP said it was reported that a man forced the woman into a car on Flying Cloud Drive just after 10 p.m., and was last seen heading towards Gregory Drive.

Police said the 911 caller heard a disturbance and a lot of yelling before the woman was forced into the vehicle.

A media release was issued Wednesday morning about the incident, and by 3 p.m., RCMP said they had identified the man and woman thanks to tips from the public.

Cpl. Dal Hutchinson tells Global News the woman has been located and is safe. He says she is cooperating with the police investigation.

While police know the identity of the man in the incident, they have not located him yet.

RCMP are now investigating to see if the woman was in danger and are looking into whether charges will be laid.

Police had been going door-to-door in the neighbourhood Wednesday afternoon to try and gather information. LeBlanc said they have not received any reports of a missing person and hoped that surveillance video in the neighbourhood may have recorded the incident.

The suspect was described as a black man, 20 to 30 years old, five-feet-eight-inches to five-feet-10-inches tall, with a thin build He was wearing dark clothing.

The victim was described as a white woman, about 18 to 20 years old, with blond hair. She was wearing a white tank top.

RCMP were looking for a dark-coloured four-door vehicle with brake lights that light up the whole back of the vehicle. It is possibly a Dodge Charger or Dodge Dart.
