British police have given up on the search for a mystery jogger who pushed a woman off a sidewalk and into the path of an oncoming bus in London last year.

Metropolitan Police investigators have “exhausted” all leads in the hunt for a male suspect dubbed the “Putney Bridge pusher” following an assault that occurred last May.

Authorities released video footage in August with the hope of identifying the man who is seen jogging on the Putney Bridge before appearing to initially push a woman from the sidewalk and into the path of an oncoming double-decker bus.

The video appears to show the jogger running toward the woman before using his arm to shove her to the pavement. The 33-year-old woman’s head and upper body was in the direct path of the bus but, the driver of the vehicle managed to swerve and avoid striking the pedestrian.

“Officers looked at over 50 people of interest during the course of the investigation; all of them were researched, reviewed and eventually eliminated,” a police spokesperson told British media. “The matter was investigated fully with all reasonable lines of inquiry completed.”

Authorities said the bus stopped after avoiding the woman, while passengers rushed to the aid of the pedestrian, who suffered minor injuries. Police said about 15 minutes after the incident, the jogger returned to the opposite side of the bridge and the victim attempted to confront the man to no avail.

“As a suspect has not been identified and as all lines of inquiry have now been exhausted, the investigation has been closed,” the police spokesperson said. “Should any new information come to light, this will be explored.”
