‘Game of Thrones’ star loses part of ear

TORONTO – Clive Mantle, who played Lord Greatjon Umber in season one of the hit series Game of Thrones, had part of his right ear bitten off Sunday.

The 55-year-old actor, whose credits include Alien 3, lost a piece of his right ear in an attack at a Travelodge hotel in Newcastle, England. Mantle had apparently confronted another guest with a noise complaint when he was assaulted.

The piece of ear that was bitten off was recovered and stitched back on by surgeons at the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

A 32-year-old man was charged with wounding with intent and another man faces a charge in connection with the alleged assault.
