A man involved in a standoff with Saskatoon police at a Holliston neighbourhood home was taken into custody after officers fired a bean bag round at him.
A man was reported at roughly 7:30 a.m. CT Wednesday damaging a City of Saskatoon grader.
Police said the man threw what appeared to be a simple incendiary device at the grader and then took a baseball bat to it.
The grader operator fled the scene unharmed.
Police said the same man attempted to interfere with a street sweeper that arrived in front of the home a short time later to clear debris from the grader damage.
Officers unsuccessfully tried to take the man into custody.
Police determined at roughly 3 p.m. the man was barricaded in his home in the 1500-block of Hilliard Street East.
They said efforts to talk with him were unsuccessful and members of the tactical support unit eventually entered the home at roughly 11 p.m.
A bean bag round was then fired and the 46-year-old man was taken into custody.
Paramedics treated him for minor injuries from the round before taking him to hospital for further treatment.
He has since been released into police custody and remains in detention.
He is facing charges of mischief, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and possession of a concealed weapon.
