RCMP, Calgary police wrap up incident in city’s southeast

Calgary police and RCMP officers were on the scene of what was described as an “ongoing event” on Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the 5600 block of 84 St. S.E. at about 10:40 a.m. The situation had been resolved by 1:30 p.m., police said.

At least five Calgary police vehicles could be seen in the area shortly before noon.

Officers from the tactical team also arrived on the scene which appeared to be near a trucking company, according to a Global News photographer on the scene.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Laurel Scott said no one was injured in the incident, which started when a man was pulled over by a Calgary police officer.

He was arrested and taken into Strathmore RCMP custody. Scott said he was “threatening to shoot” but did not specify who or what the man was threatening.
