Officers said the incident happened just after 12:30 a.m.

The bar posted the following message on social media Tuesday afternoon:
Bar Italia will be open tomorrow (Wednesday) at 8am.
After the senseless events that took place yesterday, we will honour those affected by coming together with love and respect.
Our thoughts and prayers go out.
Police continue to look for suspects.
Cockburn Street was taped off between Corydon Avenue and McMillan Avenue and was expected to be closed for several hours.
Forensics investigators spent much of the morning placing evidence markers on the street next to the popular patio. Markers could also be seen further away from the bar next to Benson Park.
Carolee Neufeld lives on McMillan right next to the park, and couldn’t leave because her SUV is inside the police tape.
“It gets really noisy in summer, we learn to live with a lot of noise. 3 a.m. is the noisiest time of day on our block,” Neufeld said. “We don’t get shocked around here about these kinds of things. This is always the centre of the action. It’s not unusual.”
Neufeld explained that while she wasn’t shocked, she was caught slightly off guard when she woke up Tuesday morning.
“We found ourselves in the middle of yellow tape, wondering what had happened. At night, we heard nothing at all, and I’ve talked with other neighbours on our street and everybody’s saying, ‘we heard nothing, how can that be?'”
Neufeld said Bar Italia is always busy in the summer, no matter what day of the week it is, though it’s especially packed on weekends.
“On weekends, it is standing room only. Every seat is full, and there’s as many people standing, hovering around,” Neufeld explained. “A couple of nights ago, there was so much yelling and screaming that I thought, ‘I think somebody’s going to get killed tonight.'”

A few menus could be seen sitting on outdoor tables in the morning, the scene undisturbed as officers took photos of evidence markers before placing items into bags. Passersby slowed to sneak a peek at what officers were doing.
The building doubles as a coffee shop during the day, opening at 8 a.m. Multiple regulars came by and were surprised to learn it was closed before being told that there was a shooting during the night.
