Peel Regional Police have identified a man fatally stabbed at a house party in Mississauga early Saturday as 19-year-old Daniel Smith.
Police said they were called to the area of Tradewind Drive and Winston Churchill Boulevard at 1:14 a.m.
They said a man was unresponsive when they arrived. He was transported to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Claude Gauthier, a neighbour in the area, said he’s sad for the relatives of the deceased.
“I’d hope they can identify who did this and get whoever it is that created this,” he said.
“There’s no reason for this and there’s a victim and many kids are victims now because they’ve experienced a very unfortunate set of circumstances. You’re supposed to celebrate life, have fun and just it turns on you? Nobody asked for that.”

Dawson Phillips, also a neighbour, said the incident isn’t typical of the neighbourhood.
“I’ve been here 25 years and I’ve never seen anything like this,” he said.
Phillips said he has a 15-year-old daughter and that the kids in the area know each other.
“It’s all good kids that all go to the same school so, somehow, they’re all connected,” he said.
Constable Bally Saini told Global News they spoke to witnesses on scene who confirmed it was a house party. They are looking for more information.
“We are urging anyone to come forward who may have information regarding this incident,” she said.
The investigation is ongoing.
A GoFundMe page had raised $10,000 for Smith’s family as of Sunday afternoon.
