Two people are dead following a two-vehicle collision on the 401 near Odessa. OPP said the two victims were a male and a female, and that both were in a black SUV that was struck by a transport truck.

Eastbound lanes of the highway were opened around 2 p.m. on Friday. The collision occurred shortly after 4 a.m. on Friday morning.

Const. Roop Sandhu says that the accident occurred because the SUV hit the guard rail and then spun out into what Sandhu called a “live lane”. Sandhu said the transport truck was not able to stop in time, and then collided with the SUV.
