If you ask, she’ll proudly tell you she was one of the first women drivers on North American highways. She received her Class ‘A’ license in 1982 and logged hundreds of thousands of miles doing what she dreamed of. She was the greatest example of what it meant to spend your life doing what you love.

For Mother’s Day in 1983, Jennifer Wees entered a contest for her mom Janet Wees. After winning – Janet was treated to a free brunch and a sparkling clean house. Janet Wees

Jennifer Wees shared the moment she won a contest for her mom:

Jennifer Wees entered a radio-sponsored contest where she had to say why her mother should win the Mother’s Day gift of a housecleaning and a brunch at Calgary’s (now closed) Happy Valley Restaurant.

“On the morning of Mother’s Day, a big bus arrived and out dashed men in overalls with hard hats and exaggerated implements for cleaning. We got on the bus and went to a restaurant at Happy Valley for a wonderful brunch. It was one of the best Mother’s Days I ever celebrated,” said Janet Wees.

Happy Mother’s Day!
