RCMP say they received a complaint at 9:39 a.m. that someone was threatening to come to the school with a weapon.

A post on the school’s Facebook page at 11:15 a.m. AT clarified the school was not under a “full lockdown” but that it was a “precautionary measure.” Students were still in classes and allowed to move throughout the school but could not leave the building. The school’s Facebook page also asked parents to stay away from the school.

“Everyone is safe,” the post reads.

RCMP say they found and arrested an 18-year-old man for allegedly making the threats. The man, who is from Amherst, was arrested at 1 p.m. without incident on Edgewood Drive.

The school issued an update late in the afternoon to say the precautionary “hold and secure” had been lifted. Students were dismissed 10 minutes early at 2:30 p.m.
