A West Kelowna resort is cleaning up a mucky mess after a landslide hit the resort Friday night.
The Seclusion Bay Resort, located between Peachland and West Kelowna on Okanagan Lake, is dealing with an estimated 3,000 cubic metres of material that let loose from the hillside above the resort.
Spokesperson Rick Widmer told Global Okanagan the manager’s office and water treatment building is compromised.
“It’s been pretty rough, there have been long days,” said Widmer. “We’ve had crews overnight protecting the property because the mud slides just continue. In the morning we get up and there’s another mud slide coming down the hillside.”
There is an estimated $250,000 in repair costs which he said will not be covered by insurance.
Widmer said the resort has been working to channel water away from the main resort buildings with sandbags and diking but it’s been a challenge dealing with the water flow and land slides

The Ambulance Service and the local fire department have advised the resort they won’t attend until the road is repaired, according Widmer.
Widmer said the resort isn’t taking reservations until mid-July and he isn’t sure if the resort will be able to open at all this summer.
