A $12.3 million contribution from the province will help expand natural gas services in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Enbridge Gas Distribution plan will implement a distribution pipeline to connect homes and business in Fenelon Falls, Cambray and Cameron. The funding is part of the 2017 Natural Gas Grant Program.
“Expanding access to natural gas will provide an alternative source of energy that is clean and affordable for residents and businesses in Fenelon Falls,” stated Mayor Andy Letham.
“This is another great example of the City working with other levels of government to enhance services in our communities. Good things happen when we work together.”
“We’re proud to be a part of this project that will expand natural gas service to the communities of Fenelon Falls, Cambray and Cameron,” stated president Jim Sanders. “We also want to thank the City of Kawartha Lakes for their support and contributions toward helping to bring natural gas to these communities.”
“We’re doing some tax in lieu for easements and right of ways for the pipeline as our municipal contribution for the pipeline for 10 years. That’s our skin in the game, if you want to call it that,” added Letham
Construction is expected to begin this spring, with communities fully serviced with natural gas by spring 2019, connecting more than 2,000 homes and businesses.
“We look forward to welcoming Enbridge to Fenelon Falls and the potential they bring as another energy source for our homes and businesses,” said city councillor Doug Elmslie.
“Enbridge has the potential to strengthen and enhance our whole community. We anticipate a productive partnership on many fronts.”
