One man was injured in an early morning fire in Saint-Pie, near Saint-Hyacinthe in the Montérégie region.
Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson Daniel Thibodeau told Global News the fire broke out in a residential building on Daniel-Johnson Boulevard at around 4 a.m. Sunday.
“The fire spread to an adjacent building and an evacuation was ordered,” he said.

One man was injured in the blaze and was treated for minor burns, according to Thibodeau.
Most residents were allowed back into their homes, except those living in the building where the blaze started.

The Red Cross is assisting affected residents.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. Thibodeau said the investigation has been transferred to the SQ, but no hypotheses are being put forward at the moment.
