Flames broke out on a property in the 45000 block of Railway Avenue in Chilliwack this morning. The fire started in a small storage structure, but crews were able to quickly knock it down. No one was inside at the time and there have been no injuries. No word yet on a cause – Mar 29, 2018

Flames and smoke engulfed a storage structure in Chilliwack on Thursday that neighbours say has been used by homeless people.

The fire started up in the 45000-block of Railway Avenue at around 7:30 a.m., according to the City of Chilliwack.

Firefighters arrived to find a small storage building in flames.

They secured a water supply and put down the fire quickly, but not before it damaged the storage building heavily.

There was also moderate damage on a small structure behind the storage building, the city added.

No civilian or firefighter were injured, and the cause of the incident is being investigated by the Chilliwack Fire Department.
