OPP identify victim of crash on Hwy. 3 near Dunnville

Ontario Provincial Police say a collision on Highway 3 in Haldimand County on Wednesday has claimed the life of a 22-year-old man from the area.

Police have identified the victim as Michael Scime of Dunnville.

First responders were called to the area between Hutchinson Road and Crown Road just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police say a vehicle that was travelling eastbound struck a large construction truck, described as a stone slinger, that was headed in the opposite direction.

The driver of the car was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead. The other driver suffered minor injuries, OPP said.

Police said speed may have been a contributing factor in the collision. Witnesses and anyone with information that could assist in the investigation are being asked to reach out to the OPP.
