It’s been over a week in Winnipeg since temperatures dropped below -10 degrees Celsius. Temperatures since mid-March have been quite mild but getting into Easter, that looks like it will change.

Since March 16, temperatures have routinely gotten above 0° C with the exception of 2 days helping to melt snow and make some snowmen look like they’re doing the limbo.

Colder days are going to return temporarily to southern Manitoba later this week.

We will start on a mild note — it’ll be cool but cloudy Monday, then Tuesday will be beautiful — sunny and a bit warmer. Tuesday will easily stand up as the warmest day of the week with temperatures around southern Manitoba expected to be up around 4° or 5° C.

Tuesday night will bring the end to the warmer days. A low pressure system will move across the province bringing snow, and with the mild temperatures, some showers or mixed precipitation is also possible.

Most of the precipitation will be headed to central Manitoba but some flurries or mixed precipitation is possible for the Winnipeg area. Amounts look light as of Monday but the more noticeable impact will be the cool air that moves into the prairies in behind this system.

High pressure is expected to settle over the prairies later this week which will keep temperatures below 0° C for a few days. By Good Friday, it looks like we will be experiencing temperatures that we haven’t seen since the first week of March after the big snowstorm.
