The president of London’s firefighters’ union says after an “important vote” was held earlier this week, the issue is now in the hands of city manager Martin Hayward.
The release issued late Thursday morning does not mention any details of the vote, but sources told 980 CFPL on Wednesday that there was a vote of no confidence in the city’s assistant deputy fire chief Jack Burt and that a letter recommending he be let go would be delivered to Hayward.
“City administration has proposed questions to the London Professional Fire Fighters Association,” wrote LPFFA president Jason Timlick.
“As president, I have committed to bring these questions back to my membership and return answers to Mr. Hayward as soon as possible.”
The release ends with Timlick expressing that he’s been given assurances that Hayward will act appropriately and in a timely manner and that he recognizes the importance of the issue.
In a statement sent to 980 CFPL, Hayward confirmed he has received the message from the fire association.
“We have a commitment to provide a safe work place for all. To do that, and in the interest of fairness, we won’t be discussing this or any personnel issue in a public forum.”
