CALGARY – Emergency crews managed to avert a potentially dangerous situation when a truck loaded with thousands of litres of jet fuel overturned at the Calgary International Airport.
The truck was carrying between 8,000 and 10,000 litres of fuel when it rolled on the airport’s apron Sunday evening.

Workers drilled a hole in the fuel compartment and transferred the dangerous cargo to another vehicle before the tanker was pulled back onto its wheels by a tow truck.
Firefighters were at the ready in the event anything went wrong with the transfer.
A small amount of fuel leaked, but it was contained and cleaned up.
The truck driver suffered minor injuries and did not need treatment at hospital.
