SASKATOON – Saskatchewan’s new NDP leader says it’s time for all hands on deck as the party looks to rebuild.
In his first official speech as leader, Cam Broten told party members at a convention in Saskatoon that they need to be united.
Broten appealed to volunteers and those who voted for other leadership candidates to come together under one orange banner.

The appeal comes after Broten defeated Ryan Meili by just 44 votes on Saturday to win the leadership.
Before starting his speech, Broten named another leadership candidate, fellow MLA Trent Wotherspoon as the new deputy leader, and invited Meili to speak.
Meili told his supporters that they all need to be one team now and said Broten has his full support.
Broten will be tasked will be rebuilding the NDP, which holds just nine of 58 seats in the Saskatchewan legislature after being all but decimated in the 2011 provincial election.
