WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets acquired Tomas Kubalik on Sunday, sending Spencer Machacek to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The 22-year-old Kubalik has spent 54 games with the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons this season, scoring 14 goals and six assists with 50 penalty minutes.
The Plzen, Czech Republic native has played in 12 career NHL games – all with Columbus – with a goal, three assists and six penalty minutes.
Kubalik was originally selected by the Blue Jackets in the fifth round, 135th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft.
Machacek has 11 goals and 14 assists with the St. John’s IceCaps in 57 games this season, with a minus-23 rating.
