‘Romance fraudster’ dated victims and stole their money, RCMP say

Police are looking for more victims of a romance fraudster who stole substantial amounts of money from his victims.

Thirty-seven-year-old Reza Moeinian of Maple Ridge is accused of dating his victims for months in order to develop a deep romantic bond, then convincing them to sign up for credit cards and lines of credit which are promptly drained.

Moeinian is charged with two counts of fraud over $5,000, one count of theft over $5,000 and one count of causing someone to use a forged document.

His next court appearance is March 11.

Moeinian is described as a Middle Eastern man who is 5’8″ tall and weighs 135 pounds. He has short brown hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.

Anybody who believes they have been victimized by Moeinian is asked to contact local police.

Cpl. Michael McLaughlin said police want to reassure any potential victims that their identities will never be revealed.
