Residents of Westmount will now have their own super clinic, Health Minister Gaétan Barrette said in an announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
The newly announced super clinic location will be in Westmount Square.
Westmount Square Health Group will be functioning as a government-run super clinic and is scheduled to open as of April 1, 2018.
This is the 28th super clinic in Quebec and the eleventh on the island of Montreal.
The Quebec Liberal government has been rolling out streamlined services to help with emergency room overcrowding, and Barrette says it’s working.
“The first part of the year from April 1, 2017, to Dec. 31, 2017, we have seen for the first time in history, a reduction in visits to emergency rooms.”
The new location is expected to treat a minimum of 20,000 consultations a year, Barrette said.
The Westmount super clinic will be open to the public 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
