Hamilton police find loaded shotgun, other firearms after traffic stop

A 50-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with drug and gun possession after a traffic stop.

He was pulled over in the area of Barton Street and East Avenue shortly after 1:30 p.m. Monday, after police discovered a black van with an obstructed license plate.

Police say they smelled marijuana and then searched the vehicle. Police say they seized a loaded shotgun, a rifle, and a nine-millimetre pistol as well as a large amount of cash and marijuana.

He has a bail hearing scheduled for Tuesday, March 6.
