It’s time to hang up your skates and lace up your roller blades. Stuart Park is preparing for summer.

The ice skating rink will be closing for the season on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

“Skating season was able to extend into March this year due to cooler temperatures, which isn’t always the case,” Steve Fagan, City of Kelowna’s arenas and stadiums supervisor, said. “With milder weather conditions forecasted for the remainder of the week, the ice surface can’t be maintained.”

The fire pit will also be extinguished until the next skating season.

The city said Stuart Park will still be a center of activity as summer hits, hosting events such as Dancing in the Park and Retro Roller Night.
