A Saskatoon police dog had to bite a man accused of trying to evade officers in a stolen SUV.
Patrol officers spotted a Honda CR-V at around 3 a.m. CT on Tuesday near the intersection of Lorne Avenue and Taylor Street.
It had been reported stolen from Calgary.
When they tried to stop it, the driver sped off.
The air support unit (ASU) started tracking the vehicle and officers on the ground set up tire deflation devices on Idylwyld Drive South.
Police said the devices flattened the tires but the driver continued out of the city.
ASU followed the SUV to a farmyard where they said the man tried to steal a snowmobile.
A police dog caught the suspect and he was taken into custody.
He was taken to hospital for treatment of dog bites before being taken to detention.
The 37-year-old Saskatoon man is charged with dangerous driving, evading police, possession of stolen property, and breach of an undertaking.
