North Vancouver RCMP are investigating after a dog was electrocuted near Lonsdale Quay on Friday afternoon.

They believe the dog may have received the fatal shock from a metal grate in the street.

Charlotte McKenzie, who works at Bean Around the World café nearby, said construction crews have been working in the area in recent days.

She said on the day of the accident, the street was covered in snow except for the grate.

“It was steaming,” she said. “I guess the dog walked over it and got electrocuted.”
