The virtual doors have been opened a little wider at the Vancouver Aquarium, with the introduction of live web cams.
From any desktop, tablet, or phone, viewers can now check in and see what the penguins, belugas, sea otters and jellyfish are up to.
The new platform also allows viewers to take snapshots of the animals and share images over social networks.

“Through the fascinating animals at the Vancouver Aquarium, we’re able to engage our communities near and far and connect people to our important conservation work,” says Dolf DeJong, vice president of conservation and education at the Vancouver Aquarium.
“With our enhanced live web cams, we can now provide our supporters with ways to continue their connection to our natural world, inspiring them to learn more about our aquatic ambassadors. Wherever they are, and on whichever device they choose, guests will be able to observe beguiling aquatic creatures cared for at the Aquarium.”
Live web cams have been in operation at the Vancouver Aquarium since 2001, but the new technology allows guests to watch them on more devices and at any time of the day.
