Vehicles set ablaze in Saint-Laurent driveway, arson squad investigates

The arson squad is investigating yet another vehicle fire, this time in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough.

Two vehicles were set ablaze at around 1:20 a.m. Thursday, on Stewart Square near Nantel Street.

Both vehicles were parked in a private driveway outside a residence.

Montreal police spokesperson Andrée-Anne Picard said firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, but the vehicles are a total loss.

“Traces of accelerant were found inside the vehicles,” Picard said, prompting an investigation by the arson squad.

There are no witnesses and no suspects, but Picard said surveillance cameras in the vicinity could provide invaluable clues.
