Saskatchewan RCMP stop vehicle, arrest 3 wanted men

Three wanted men were arrested after a vehicle evading RCMP was stopped in northern Saskatchewan Tuesday.

Alberta RCMP’s K-Division advised the La Loche detachment of a vehicle believed to be heading towards them at roughly 1:30 p.m. CT.

Police said the vehicle was suspected of being involved in a serious firearms complaint in Janvier.

La Loche RCMP found the vehicle on Highway 956 and attempted a traffic stop, however the driver wouldn’t pull over.

A tire deflation device was later successfully used.

Three men were arrested on outstanding warrants. Police did not say what the warrants were for.

Danny William Larocque, 27, has been charged with operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police, resisting arrest, obstructing a police officer, and driving while disqualified.

Wesley Cardinal, 37, and has been charged with obstructing a police officer.

Both Alberta men, from Janvier, were remanded into custody and scheduled to appear Thursday in La Loche provincial court.

The third man, from La Loche, was released on a promise to appear in provincial court on April 9 on a charge of resisting arrest.

RCMP said they were not releasing his name as this matter is not yet before the courts.

La Loche is approximately 560 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
