Snowboarder who died at Big White remembered as ‘kind soul’

A crowd funding account has identified the young Kelowna man who died Sunday after hitting a tree while snowboarding at Big White as Tristin Croteau, 21.

“Tristin has such a genuine and impactful personality. He was always supportive and never made anyone feel excluded or small,” Tony Nguyen wrote on the Go Fund Me account.

“He was the most caring kind soul, was always filled with love and positivity to his friends and family.”

Police said the snowboarder “suffered a fatal head injury while snowboarding in the Black Forest area” of the ski resort on Sunday afternoon.

“It is believed the 21-year-old Kelowna man, was snowboarding alone when he struck a tree along the trail,” Cpl. Jess O’Donaghey said in a media release.
