A defective transformer about 500 Manitoba Hydro customers without power on Monday for more than 12 hours.
Power had been out since 7 a.m. for some residents west of Birds Hill Park before Hydro said in a tweet that it had been restored as of 11:20 p.m. Monday night.
Hydro spokesman Bruce Owen told Global News the outage affected Cooks Creek, west to Birds Hill Park and south towards Oakbank.
On Monday morning, 690 customers were without power but Hydro had restored power to 200 of them by the evening.
Owen said 1,000 customers were impacted Monday night during periodical brown outs, which happened because of load shifting to restore power.
Hydro initially estimated that power wouldn’t be restored to the rest of its customers until 8 a.m. Tuesday.
