Police found two people dead, and their deaths are believed to be suspicious, Mounties said in a news release.

IHIT was called and it will work this incident alongside the Surrey RCMP.

Corporal Frank Jang with IHIT says forensic experts are gathering evidence and investigators are going door to door.

The deaths are not believed to be random, but IHIT doesn’t believe that public safety is a concern.

The female owner of the home is the subject of a foreclosure in a New Westminster court. That foreclosure was filed against her in Decmeber and last updated on Jan. 24.

But it’s unclear whether that’s a part of this mystery.

The area around the scene of the fire is expected to be “cordoned off for a significant amount of time.”

Neighbors tell Global News that a mother and her adult son lived in the house, but police have not confirmed any information about the victims.

Global News reached the son, but said he hasn’t been back to the house since the fire.

He also said he didn’t know whether his mother was one of the victims.
