Province premieres new BC Services Card

The B.C. government is rolling out a new, ‘highly secure’ BC Services cards, which is replacing the old CareCard.

The new card comes with photo identification, anti-fraud and security features including secure design, an expiry date and other enhanced features.

The province says the easiest way for British Columbians to enroll is to do so when renewing their driver’s licence and opt for the combined card that includes both a driver’s licence and BC Services Card.

The current CareCard has not been significantly updated in the last 20 years.

British Columbians will need to re-enroll and get a new card every five years.
