A music graduate turned police officer in Portland, Maine is receiving a lot of attention for his voice after following through on a dare from his partner that saw him sing an impromptu Christmas carol to passersby while on duty.
Officer Jeremy Turner was on foot patrol Dec. 16 when his partner prompted him to show off his lesser-known skill.
“I don’t think he thought that I’d actually do it,” Turner told WGME-TV. “I went for it, and people just started gathering around, and so I kept going.”

Turner began singing O Holy Night, a family favourite and one that he’s been singing for years.
Despite being a music performance grad from the University of Southern Maine, Turner says singing in public still makes him nervous.
“I feel embarrassed when I start and I feel embarrassed when I end,” he said. “During the middle, I’m just kind of in there singing and don’t really think about it too much.”
The quick carol was well received by those who stopped to listen. They gave Turner a warm and festive cheer.
