Scott Thompson: Millard and Smich convicted of murder, again

Another chapter is complete in the ongoing demented world of Dellen Millard.

Over the weekend, he and accused Mark Smich were found guilty in the murder of Laura Babcock.

Babcock was another person who, unknowingly, got too close to the web of destruction these two had spun leading a directionless loser life in search of the next cheap, low-tech thrill.

Like Tim Bosma, she had a family who loved her, that had to painfully relive the last moments of her life through an enduring trial.

We all shake our heads wondering how someone could do such a thing.

We all wonder what leads a person down such a dark path.

How does an innocent person gets caught in the crossfire?

Unfortunately, there are more chapters to be written, as Millard now stands trial for the murder of his father.

None of this will bring the victims back to their families, but perhaps the final chapter will unravel how we got to the first.
