There were two special mascots named Hidy and Howdy, who helped welcome visitors to the prairie city. And who can forget the commemorative pins released for fans to trade with friends?

Among the highlights of the ’88 Olympics were ski jumper Eddy “the Eagle” Edwards, the Jamaican bobsleigh team, and east German figure skater Katrina Witt gliding to the gold.
