Okanagan Falls school locked down while police deal with distraught woman

Penticton RCMP were called to Okanagan Falls Friday afternoon to deal with a potentially dangerous situation.

Police say they got a complaint of a distraught female in her Cedar Street residence suffering a mental health crisis.

There was an indication a gun might be involved so the nearby Okanagan Falls Elementary school was locked down and adjacent neighbours were asked to leave their properties.

The situation was resolved peacefully and the woman, in her 20’s, was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to the Penticton hospital for treatment.

A man, also in his 20’s, was arrested for obstruction.
