Cute wool dresses, built-in shirts in Victoria Beckham’s more affordable collection

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Fresh off the positive feedback for her high-end label, Victoria Beckham offered a set of cute, wearable fall designs for her more affordable Victoria line – what she called “zip-and-go” dressing.

More affordable – but to a point, as Beckham herself acknowledged backstage on Tuesday. “It’s still expensive,” she noted, “but a little less, and maybe something more women can buy.”

Beckham said she focused her fall collection on the concept of easy, quick dressing. “You don’t have to think about it – you just get inside and go,” she said.

As an example, she cited her very first item at Tuesday’s presentation: A sleeveless grey wool jumper with a low V-neck and white button-down shirt attached inside.

There was lots of grey, black and navy wool, in belted dresses and jumpers, some of which had a school-girl like quality. Many of the models wore chic wool winter hats, designed by Beckham of course. The designer said she had spent a lot of time focusing on fabric development for this season. “It’s been a real success, so I can do so much more in-house now,” she said.

Beckham preferred solids to prints in this collection, but there were a few prints: Large polka dots on a belted dress worn over skinny jeans, and one recurring print that had a woman’s face in side profile.

But the cutest face on the premises belonged to Harper Beckham, age one and a half, who circulated with her mother before the presentation began and got down on the floor to pose for a friend’s photos.

“Show your model face,” her mother instructed, demonstrating a runway pout.

Harper obliged.
