Sentencing for man guilty of stealing $1 million in farm equipment

A Saskatchewan farmer has been sentenced for stealing more than $1 million in farm equipment.

Iain Stables, who is from the Donavan area, pleaded guilty in August to the thefts from a number of dealerships and other properties.

He was sentenced to two years less a day on Friday in Saskatoon court.

He must also wear an electronic monitoring bracelet and his property is subject to random searches as part of the decision handed down in mental health court.

Stables will have three years of probation once his sentence is complete.

He was charged after police searched his property in February 2016 and seized tractors, balers, trucks and other equipment.
