Heavy fog likely a factor in Surrey crash that sent 2 pedestrians to hospital

Surrey RCMP say heavy fog likely played a factor in a serious accident that put two pedestrians in the hospital on Friday.

The two victims were struck by a black jeep while in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of 128 St. and 80 Ave.  just after 7:30 p.m.

They were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver stayed at the scene, and is co-operating with police.

Police don’t believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, but did say the heavy fog and poor visibility may have contributed.

A fog advisory was in effect at the time.

Both 80 Ave. and 128 St. were partially closed as police investigated.
