The Winnipeg police sell seized or stolen items that go unclaimed at an annual auction.

“If we want it bad enough we’ll be bidding until we get it,” shopper Sue Moon said. “I’ve got 12 people to buy for this Christmas.”

People were able to browse the items at 9 a.m. and the auction started at noon.

Many shoppers were hunting for a hot buy.

“I’m always looking for random deals and stuff like that,” Adam Ward said, who was looking for tools to add to his collection.

There were 530 items up for grabs total including jewelry, tools, clothes, video games and more.

One item that was drawing a lot of attention was a diamond ring appraised at $9,000.
