The Manitoba Moose have brought back defenceman Jan Kostalek.

The Moose recalled Kostalek from the ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen on Thursday. The move indicates the Moose will be without defenceman Jake Kulevich after he left Tuesday’s win over the Laval Rocket with an injury.

Kostalek, 22, started the season with the Moose but didn’t appear in any games before he was re-assigned to the Icemen on Nov. 7. In eight games with Jacksonville, Kostalek scored two goals and added one assist.

Kostalek missed training camp with the Winnipeg Jets due to an injury. He played with the Moose the last two seasons. The Czech Republic native had two goals and five assists in 60 games in the 2016-17 season. Kostalek also appeared in 52 games the season previous where he recorded one goal and eight helpers. He was drafted by the Jets in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Draft.
